She was named a Disney legend in 2011. Rose was the Oscar-winning actress who was Lorrell in Dreamgirls. Anika noni Rose is a famous American actress, singer and model. Best known as the voice of Tiana In The Princess and the Frog, the very first African American Disney princess. In 2011, she was named as an official Disney Legend. Her most well-known roles include role as Lorrell in Dreamgirls, an Academy Award winning film (2006) and as LaVerne in the Starz's Power. Her performance in the theater are not unnoticed, including her role as Emmie Thbodeaux in Caroline or Change, a Broadway musical Caroline or Change (2004) that earned her the Tony Award Best Featured actress in the musical. Her nomination was for an award for the Tony Award Best Featured actor for her performance in the Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun.
